A New Role for Construction Economists?
Construction economists in the Western world encounter a lot of challenges in their profession.
Real estate is diminishing in value and contractors are looking for different ways of working.
Governments are considering their positions.
Banks and investors are hesitating to finance construction projects.
There are (too) many empty buildings and the majority of buildings is not sustainable.
These challenges ask for changes in the profession:
considering IT-solutions, new ways of working, life cycle costing and BIM methodologies.
Are we ready for a new role for the construction economists?
